Psalm Settings

The Lord Is My Light : Coming Soon

I waited patiently - Psalm 40 Scorch
This setting picks out some key verses from psalm 40, expressing hope and thanksgiving, finishing with an emphatic hymn of praise. It is scored for 4-part voices, trumpet, flute and oboe with optional extra brass, but could easily be performed with fewer instruments.

God Is Our Refuge : Scorch
Using words from Psalm 46, the music aims to capture the contrasts of mood within the psalm. It is written as a unison song, but could easily be adapted into a choir arrangement

The Lord Is My Shepherd : (Extract) Adobe
This popular setting of Psalm 23 has appeared on two CDs in addition to Roger's "The Lord is my Light" collection. It is designed for four-part choir, but could be sung in unison.

I Will Extol the Lord : (Extract) Scorch
With words taken from Psalm 34, this is a joyful song that has proved popular in workshops and with congregations. Various optional choral parts and men/ladies divisions

Have Mercy on me O God : (Extract) Scorch
A meditative setting of psalm 51, for solo voice with 4-part choir, with optional violin (or equivalent) improvised solo sections

Christmas

O Jesus Let Your Love Come Down : (Extract) Scorch
A lively Christmas song that has proved popular in churches around the country. Instrumental parts available on request.

What Child Is This? : Coming Soon

Celebrate the birth of Christ our Saviour : (Extract) Scorch
Using music from Roger's musical "The Return" this lively song captures the excitement and joy of Jesus' birth. Written for four-part harmony; could also be sung in unison. Instrumental parts also available on request

My soul praises the Lord : (Extract) Scorch
A fresh and exuberant setting of the Magnificat. The music simply consists of a refrain (with optional choral parts). This is then repeated instrumentally in the background whilst a reader reads sections of the Magnificat as found in the book of Common Worship or Luke 1:46-55

Easter

Lamb Of God : Scorch / Adobe
This is a song suitable for meditation at Easter or maybe during Communion. It works best with a men/ladies divide in the chorus, and with solos for the verses. It focuses on John 1:29 and verses from Isaiah 53

Agnus Dei : Coming Soon

Pentecost

Release Your Spirit : Scorch
Written specifically for Pentecost, this four-verse worship song could be used throughout the year, and has proved to be powerful and moving at both local level and at training workshops around the country. The blues style adds poignancy to the theme of release, and the aim of the words is to draw together the varied imagery associated with the Holy Spirit.

Worship Songs

Let Me Be Fashioned : Scorch
An intimate worship song reflecting a yearning to be more like Jesus.

Jesus, What A Wonderful Name : Coming Soon

Lift Me Up Into Your Heavenly Places : Scorch
A worship song with a theme of seeking to be drawn closer into God's presence.

I rest in Your Everlasting Arms : (Extract) Scorch
Drawing freely from Deuteronomy 33:27 and Isaiah 40:11 & 40:31 this gentle unison song has a pastoral theme. There is an optional descant line in the chorus.

Not Looking Back : Scorch
This energetic unison worship song was inspired by Philippians 3:12-14

Lighten our darkness : (Whole Piece) Scorch
This is a short four-part choral setting of the modern version of the evensong collect. It aims to capture the quiet, confident and reverent mood of this special moment of the evensong service.
